Is there a way to calculate the cost of surgeries that don't start on time? (Lost revenue, physician and patient dissatisfaction, etc.) Is there also a value that can be attributed to lawsuits resulting from nosocomial infections? WHEN WE REQUIRE CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION AS A GROUP ONLY THEN WILL WE GET THE RESPECT THAT SHOULD AUTOMATICCALLY COME WITH OUR JOBS. THEN WE CAN CALL THE SHOTS ON TRAY WEIGHT AND STERILIZATION PARAMETERS BECAUSE THEN WE CAN SET THE STANDARDS THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW. TIM I DO HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU AND YOUR READERS WHAT IS THE PROTOCAL ON STRINGING INSTRUMENTS IN THE DECONTAMINATION IT SEEMS THAT SOME FACILITIES ARE USING THIS METHOD AND THEY DO NOT UTILIZE DECON STRINGERS, I BELIE |

| Comments: | Supervisor/Manager Central Sterile Department I am looking forward to using this site as a resource. I agree that we must have universal standards throughout the country in the areas that affect sterile processing, much like Universal Protocol. We must and will be held accountable for our departments actions, but without consistancy amoung ourselves we are leaving our departments open for litigation. Manufactures make our jobs harder than necessary they are inconsistant with sterilization parameters and give no direction regarding decontamination. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you push for regulations and standardization. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. |
