The answer to the age old problem of manually pre-washing ring-handled instruments has finally been invented.  Tru-Clean Innovations has designed an instrument cradle that improves the overall process of washing instruments.

For years we have been laying instruments on their side in a flash pan or pre-stringing and sending them through an automated washer in hopes that they will become clean, safe for assemble, and sterilization.

At our hospital we were sorting and hand washing the all serrations which added time and increased our chemical cost.  With the Tru-Clean cradles we no longer have to manual wash ring-handled, the bulk of an instrument inventory.

The time spend washing instrument serrations is now transferred to racking and sorting by type in the cradle.

On the clean side the instruments cool faster allowing for quicker assembly of instrument sets.

My employees like the fact that they do not have to dig through a pile of instruments to find that one instrument to complete the stringer.  Visually the instruments are in an up-right position, you can see them clearly which speeds up the process and reduces potential sticks.

Overall, we found that the Tru-Clean cradles do not add time to the process, they streamline it.

If you are pre-stringing on the decontam side then you will see a decrease in time associated to this process as well as de-stringing to test scissors and needleholders.

Furthermore, by placing the instruments in an up-right position the Tru-Clean cradle enhances the washer’s ability to have complete impingement getting to the box-lock of ring-handled instruments.
